Sue Johnson

Program Administrator

Sue Johnson joined the staff of EMTA in October of 2011. As Program Administrator, she maintains the judge database, ensures that rounds are fully staffed, recruits judges and other volunteers, and assists with judge training.  She also communicates with teams and coordinates hotel logistics.

Sue has coached high school champions in debate, Moot Court, and Mock Trial since 2008.  In October of 2009, she began coaching the NCHE Mock Trial team which earned third place in North Carolina as a first year team.  The team was accepted to the 2010 Empire,

where they earned second place in the final round against the powerhouse Henry Grady team. The NCHE team went on to sweep every ballot in the 2011 North Carolina state competition, qualifying for Nationals where they earned ninth place overall. Their experiences at the 2010 Empire were crucial to the team’s success.

As a coach and Mock Trial judge, Sue knows firsthand the life-changing impact of Mock Trial on students, teachers, and volunteers.  In addition to serving with EMTA, she is the Program Administrator for the Carolina Center for Civic Education [North Carolina] High School Mock Trial program.  Sue desires to help the Empire grow and continue to offer the premier mock trial experience for high school students across the globe.
