Our Philosophy

EMTA brings together some of the brightest and most accomplished mock trial teams in the world.  Despite their talent, we never let our students’ drive to win undermine the importance of civility.  We teach students that handling oneself professionally outside of the courtroom is just as important as prevailing at the competition.  Students are constantly interacting through joint meals, a pin exchange ceremony, cruise of New York Harbor and a farewell dance.  Our mission is to ensure that students leave the Empire valuing the friendships and memories made over the number of trials “won.”  That mission is the driving force behind all that we do at the Invitational.
