The Downtown Trophy is finally staying home.
After eight years of hosting a nationally renowned invitational tournament, NYU captured its first ever Downtown Championship. The Washington Square Park group defeated U.C. Irvine in Monday’s Championship Round. The team’s title run started with a dominant 14-6 record but ended with drama. After nearly three hours of excitement, the jury was locked — 5 ballots for NYU and 5 ballots for Irvine. The winner was determined by New York State Supreme Court Jill Konviser.
Congratulations to all 16 teams that participated! Results will be posted soon.
